Max E. Heilman, 92, of Covington, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Bloom at Bluffton in Bluffton, South Carolina, where he was currently making his home. He was born November 16, 1924, in Melvern, Kansas, to the late Louis and Charlotte (Alley) Heilman. Max married his loving wife of 69 years, Lois E. (Taylor) Heilman on October 4, 1947; she preceded him in death on November 23, 2016.
Max will be missed and remembered by his daughter, Jane (David) Huntress of Greenwood, Ind.; three granddaughters, Amanda Brown, Kendra Escajeda, and Tawyna Adams; seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters Gertrude (Charlie) Blain, Louise (Chet) Dysinger; and brothers Raymond (Alberta) Heilman and William (Dorothy) Heilman.
He was a 1942 graduate of Bethel High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War Two. He was the co-owner of the former Beaver-Heilman Ford in Covington. Max was a member of the Covington Church of the Brethren, A.B. Cole Post #80 American Legion, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Covington, with Pastor Michael Yingst officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
