Curtis Leon Garber, 71, of Arcanum, passed peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday evening, March 14, 2026, at the age of 71 years, 2 months and 25 days. He was born December 17, 1954, to Robert and Phyllis (Rule) Garber in Troy, Ohio. On July 29, 1978, Curt was united in marriage to Joyce Fisher, and they were blessed with 47 years of marriage and six children. Together Curt and Joyce accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and were baptized on May 4, 1979 into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, to which he remained faithful until death.
Curt was a 1973 graduate of Franklin-Monroe High School. He devoted most of his life to raising his children while working on the family dairy farm. Farming brought many opportunities for his children to work and learn alongside him. From milking cows to late nights in the field, he taught by example as we labored together. In his later years in addition to spending time with his grandchildren, he enjoyed working at D&M Excavating and Penn Station. Any free time was spent lending a hand anywhere he saw a need.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Charles & Betty Fisher, and brother-in-law Greg Fisher.
He is survived by his loving wife; six children, Miranda & Travis Baker, Brian & Jenae Garber, Ross & Tabi Garber, Monica Garber, Mary Garber, Emily & Luke Whalen; 12 grandchildren: Tessa, Kassidy, Kash & Marissa Baker, Quinter, Victor, Zaida & Lena Garber, Ryder & Brexley Garber, Wrigley & Crosley Whalen; brother Bruce & Jacky Garber; brother-in-law Ed & Shirley Fisher; nieces, nephews and extended family.
Dad freely gave his time and his loving hands will be missed. “Thanks be to God which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 20, at the Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 2996 Schnorf-Jones Rd., Arcanum. Burial will follow in Newcomer Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 1-5 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Arrangements are in care of Moore Funeral Home, Covington.
