Daniel Sampson Sr.

Daniel L. Sampson Sr., 61, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 10, 2026, at his residence. He was born August 24, 1964, in Troy, to Rodney L. Sampson and the late Phyllis Ann (Tower). He is survived by his father and stepmother, Rodney & Charlotte Sampson of Covington.

He is also survived by his wife, Hope (Pitman) Sampson; a son, Daniel Sampson Jr. of Covington; a sister, Sherri Sampson of Urbana; and his good friend, Kristina Rauch.

Dan was a graduate of Covington High School and served in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany and Iraq during the Persian Gulf War. He worked for Tru-Edge of St. Henry and had previously worked for Norcold of Gettysburg for many years. Dan enjoyed woodworking and riding his motorcycle, and was a member of several bike clubs.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 17, at Highland Cemetery, 7835 Ingle Rd., Covington, with Pastor Brent Palmer officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Arrangements are in care of Moore Funeral Home, Covington, and online condolences may be left for the family at moorefh.com.
