Donald L. “Bud” Weer, 80, of Covington, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 5, 2026, at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. He was born August 1, 1945, in Troy, to the late Donald L. “Bud” and Janis M. (Krites) Weer.
Bud is survived by his first wife, Nancy Jean Anderson of Columbus, and his current wife of nearly 40 years, Jo Ellen (Sweetman) Weer of Covington. He is also survived by three children with his first wife, Craig (Lee Ann) Weer of Mooresville, N.C., Michael (Karen) Weer of Hilliard, Ohio and Stephen Weer of Delaware, Ohio. He has six grandchildren who were the light of his life and whom he was so proud of, Ben of Raleigh, N.C., Ashley of Columbus, Jacob of Columbus, Rhys of Hilliard, Emma of Charlotte, N.C. and Carter of Hilliard.
He is also survived by his in-laws, Priscilla Weer of Covington and Jim (Charlene) Brokaw of Morrow; nephews and niece, Bart (Marie) Weer, Brad Weer, Jenny Weer and Jack Weer; great-nieces and nephews, Noah (Jordan), Abby, Aliya, Hailey, Dalton & Bryce Weer, Wyatt & Wade Auflick, Finn & Charlie Weer; and great-great-nephews Lucas, Nathen & Everett Weer. Bud was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert “Bob” Weer and Thomas Weer.
Bud was a 1964 graduate of Covington High School and retired from ITW of Troy after nearly 40 years of service. He was a 50+ year member of the Masonic Lodge and was also a longtime member of the Covington Eagles Aerie #3998. Bud served the Village of Covington in many capacities, such as on the Board of Public Affairs, Village Council, and Board of Zoning Appeals.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 9, at Moore Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Covington. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 12-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Covington Fire & Rescue.
