Elizabeth “Betty” Aizpurua Sullenbarger, 84, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 31, 2026, at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. She was born July 29, 1941, in Chiriqui, Panama, to the late Victor and Julia (Arauz) Aizpurua. She married Russel L. Sullenbarger Sr.; he preceded her in death on April 12, 2014.

She will be missed and remembered by her children, Pastor Arrocha of Texas, Liza (Robert) Folstein of Maryland, Russel Sullenbarger Jr. of Greenville, Annette (John) Denman of Covington and Alicia (Jon) Olivera of Greenville; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Judy Nunes of California and Irlanda Casal of Panama. She was preceded in death by her son, Pedro Arrocha; and sisters, Edilma Arino and Alexis Isaza.

Betty was a longtime homemaker and of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed attending mass, crocheting, trips to the beach, exercising and swimming, and spending time with her family.

Funeral services to honor her life will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, April 6, at Moore Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Covington. Friends may visit from 4-6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Betty will be laid to rest in Panama at a later date. Online condolences may be left for the family at moorefh.com.
