Elvin "Dick" Rector

Elvin Richard “Dick” Rector, 80, of Covington and Fern Park, Florida, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 21, 2024, at his residence. He was born April 12, 1944 in Muncie, Indiana, to the late Guy Elvin and Sarah Kathern (Mixell) Rector. He married Cheryl D. (Byers) Rector on May 28, 1965; she survives.

He will also be missed and remembered by his two children, Angela (Kevin) McCollum of Lebanon, Tenn. and Greg (Krysten) Rector of Pepack Gladstone, N.J.; three grandchildren, Nicole McCollum, Jordan McCollum and Gavin Rector; and a sister, Zovanna (Donald) Wade of Calif. 

Dick grew up and graduated from high school in Yorktown, Indiana. He retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) as an electrician. In his younger years, he enjoyed water sports, but especially loved family time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 29, at Moore Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Covington, with Pastor John Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
