George A. Furrow, 85, of Covington, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Ohio’s Hospice Inpatient Unit, Troy. He was born April 7, 1935, in Quincy, to the late George E. Furrow and Margaret “Peg” (Bailey) Furrow Gustin. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Herschel Gustin. George married Nancy Ann (Morris) Furrow on August 10, 1956; she preceded him in death on October 28, 2019.
He will be missed and remembered by his sons, George “Dusty” (Tammy) Furrow of Covington, Jon (Sherry) Furrow of Piqua; four grandchildren, Jessica (Alex) Hoying, Amanda Furrow, Graham (Katie) Furrow, and Tyler (Jessica) Furrow; seven great-grandchildren, Parker, Aubrey, Maisie & Xavier Hoying, Oliver, Avery, & Zaylee Furrow; sister-in-law Marjorie Mills of Medway; and brother-in-law Charles “Chuck” (Rose) Morris of Piqua.
George served in the U.S. Army and was a self-employed farrier and horse trainer. He was a member of the Covington Church of the Brethren and the Masonic Lodge.
Public graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 27, at Miami Memorial Park, Covington, with Pastors Michael Yingst, Don Solin, and Graham Furrow officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. There will be no public visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Covington Church of the Brethren or Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County.
