Helen Buckingham

Helen M. Buckingham, 96, formerly of Covington, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018 at Heartland of Piqua.  She was born May 15, 1921, in Staunton Twp., Miami County, to the late Frank R. and Sarah (Brenner) Smith.  She married Bobby J. Buckingham on July 17, 1940; he preceded her in death on June 2, 2011.

Helen will be missed and remembered by her daughters, Patricia Royer of Greenville and Virginia Brown of Bradford; 11 grandchildren, Debra Warner, Sue (Larry) Brown, Karen Miller, Scott (Lisa) Warner, Mike Warner, Paul (Rachel) Brown, Jacquelynn Bell, Lisa (Doug) Ruley, James (Chanda) Brown, Kelly (Cheryl) Brown, and Sarah (Jonathan) Fries; 41 great-grandchildren; 67 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bertha Moist of Covington.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Marguerite McIntyre; two brothers, Raymond and Jacob Smith; and a great-grandson, Justice Meade.

Helen was a 1938 graduate of Staunton Township High School and was a lifelong homemaker.  She was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed crocheting, cooking, camping, and gardening.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, at Moore Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Covington, with Chaplain Candy Null officiating.  Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Private burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.  Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 580 Lincoln Park Blvd., Suite 320, Kettering, OH 45429.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.moorefh.com.
