James N. Roberts, 54, of Piqua, passed away Friday evening, June 27, 2025, at his residence. He was born July 22, 1970 in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He married Jamie Leigh (Banning) Roberts; she survives.
He will also be missed and remembered by his daughter, Alexis Sue Roberts of Piqua; stepson Dylan (Renee) Buchanan of Greenville; stepdaughter Kyra Buchanan (Nate Thompson) of Piqua; five grandchildren, Aiden, Zachary, Ryker, Bexley & Rennick; sister Tasha Dewberry “Helmet Head” of Sidney; and his “brothers” Victor Conley of Covington, Brian Kruckeberg of Versailles, Jugg & Melissa Ridenour of Covington, David Murphy of Piqua, Artie Parker of Piqua, and Dave Smith “Smitty” of Midway, Tenn. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bethann Gross-Jimenez.
James was a graduate of Sidney High School and earned an associate’s degree from Sinclair. He served in the U.S. Army and worked for Safety Services and Supply. He was a Christian and attended First Heavy Metal Church of Christ.
James loved being a Papaw and spending time with his sidekick Aiden Lee “Biggie” and his “Boogawooga” Zachary Wayne. His grandsons were his world. James rode Harleys and was a Harley-Davidson collector. He loved to go fishing with his wife Jamie, but was always out-fished!
James loved to joke, and sarcasm was his daily dose of laughter to all who knew him. He was involved in more than 107 poker runs, and enjoyed supporting benefits to help others. He loved spending time with his dogs Tyrus, Willow, Athena Grace, but he didn’t like dogs.
A time to honor and celebrate his life will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 9 at Moore Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Covington. At 6:45 p.m., Justin Thompson will share some remembrances of James. Online condolences may be left for the Roberts family at moorefh.com.
