James Sturgeon

James H. “Jim” Sturgeon, 79, of Urbana, passed away Friday morning, July 17, 2026, at Mercy Health-Urbana Hospital. He was born November 16, 1946, in Piqua, to the late Harry L. and Blanche Ann (Neely) Sturgeon. He married Evelyn F. (Walker) Sturgeon on April 13, 1974; she survives.

He will also be missed and remembered by a son, Matthew (Cathy) Sturgeon of Chesapeake, Va., a daughter, Linda Pastori of Urbana; and three grandchildren, Grant, Nolan and Ellen Sturgeon. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Annette Pastori.

Jim was a graduate of Urbana High School and worked most of his life in the flooring and decorating industry. He was self-employed and owned several businesses, including Jim’s Insulation Services and Strasburg House Interiors. He had also worked at Champaign Lanes and drove for CTS and SVG Urbana. Jim enjoyed NASCAR collectibles, bowling, and Ohio State football.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 23 at Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua. Arrangements are in care of Moore Funeral Home, Covington. Online condolences may be left for the family at moorefh.com.
