Janis M. Weer, 91, of Covington, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit, Troy. She was born January 16, 1927, in Columbus, to the late Scott and Cordelia (Howell) Krites. She married Donald “Bud” Weer on June 10, 1944; he preceded her in death on March 2, 1983.
She will be missed and remembered by her sons, Donald “Bud” (Jo Ellen) Weer of Covington, Robert “Bob” (Priscilla) Weer of Covington; daughter-in-law Sharon Weer of Barefoot Bay, Fla.; grandchildren Craig (Lee Ann) Weer of Powell, Michael (Karen) Weer of Hilliard, Steve Weer of Delaware, Bart (Marie) Weer of Covington, Brad (Rebecca) Weer of Covington, Jenny (Matt) Auflick of DeGraff, Jackson (Lisa) Weer of Key Largo, Fla.; special grandchildren Chris Blosser of Lewistown, Beverly Snider of Troy, Annette (Steve) Wesco of Covington; great-grandchildren Ben, Jake & Emma Weer of Powell, Ashley, Rhys & Carter Weer of Hilliard, Noah, Abigail & Hailey Weer of Covington, Aliya, Dalton & Bryce Weer of Covington, Wyatt & Wade Auflick of DeGraff, Finley & Charlie Weer of Key Largo, Fla.; special great-grandchildren Kellee Ary of Casstown, Nick (Kristi) Meyer of Jacksonville, Fla., Jordan Meyer of Dublin; great-great-grandchildren A.J. Ary, Ava Meyer, and Lucas Weer; her brother, William “Bill” (Arabella) Krites of Bloomer; nieces Jacqui (Don) Kuck of New Bremen, Jyle Drees of Bloomer; nephew Eric (Janelle) Krites of Troy; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Thomas Weer; and infant sister Marilyn Joan Krites.
Jan was a 1944 graduate of Covington High School and was a member of the Eastern Star. She worked for Kroger, the Miami County Dairy, and retired from Sellman’s Furniture. She loved playing cards and board games with her family, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching family play in sporting events, sewing, traveling, and trips to casinos.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, September 1, at Moore Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Covington, with Pastor Nick Church officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
