Mary Landis

Mary M. Landis, 85, of Covington, passed away Saturday morning, December 30, 2023, at Wilson Health, Sidney. She was born February 2, 1938, in Webster, to the late Rufus and Mildred (Minnich) Staudt. She married Roger “Bud” Landis on June 29, 1957; he preceded her in death on February 10, 2019.

Mary will be missed and remembered by her children, Tim (Janet) Landis, Robin (Matt) Brown, Mark Landis and Susan Landis, all of Covington; ten grandchildren, Christina Landis, Candace Lightner, Crystal Lewis, Jason Clark, Chad Clark, Jill Clark, Jennifer Landis, Mitchell Landis, Shelby Garland and Nick Cutcher; 13 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Judy (Don) Brumbaugh and Josie Sizemore, all of Covington, Deborah Hacker of Dayton and John Staudt of Virginia. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack, Robert, Richard, William and Daniel Staudt.

She was a 1956 graduate of Covington High School and retired from Heartland of Piqua. Mary had also worked for Wyandot Toy, Ohio Bell, Wilson Dept. Store, Beener’s Supermarket, Stanley Vemco, cleaned homes, and had also taught hospitality courses at the Upper Valley JVS. She had also owned and operated Bud & Mary Landis Antiques. Mary was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Covington-Newberry Historical Society, and was a Master Gardener and a member of the Covington Garden Club. She was a longtime member of Stillwater Community Church of Covington.

Funeral services to honor her life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 5, at Moore Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Covington, with Pastor Jon Dillon officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
