Mildred Weikert

Age 88 of Covington, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at SpringMeade Health Center, Tipp City. She was born September 30, 1922, in Bradford, Ohio, to her parents Ray & Ruth (Wintrow) Magee. Mildred graduated from Bradford High School in 1940 and received her library certification from Miami University and Wright State University. She worked in the accounting department at Hobart Brothers early in her work career. She is best known for her 25 years of service at the J. R. Clarke Public Library where she retired as Director and was instrumental in starting the Friends of the Library. She truly enjoyed her years of special times reading to the children from the Covington area at story hour. Mildred also volunteered with her husband, Wayne, at the UVMC information desk. She was an active member of the Covington Church of the Brethren where she taught Sunday school, prepared meals, and help with the Vacation Bible School. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Weikert in 2008; brother Glen Magee; sister Alice Haggard. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Linda & Dr. Jim Daniel of Troy, Marsha Fischer of Troy; sons and daughters-in-law Larry & Linda Weikert of Troy and Timothy & Julia Weikert of Englewood; grandchildren April & Jason Kruse, Chris & Kasey Daniel, Holly & Brad Bowers, Kelly Fischer, Katerina Weikert, Natalie Weikert; great- grandchildren Jake Daniel, Ellie Daniel, Haley Kruse; sister Miriam Erbaugh; brothers and sisters-in-law Galen & Maxine Magee, Robert & Alma Magee, James & Barbara Magee, Ralph & Joyce Magee, Don & Dixie Magee, Hubert Magee. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday, June 13, Covington Church of the Brethren, 101 N. Wall St, Covington. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-6 PM Sunday at Jackson- Sarver Family Funeral Home, 10 S. High St, Covington. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to J. R. Clarke Public Library or Covington Church of the Brethren.
