Paul Edward Filbrun, 93, formerly of Covington, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Ohio Living Dorothy Love, Sidney, and now awaits the return of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Paul was born August 30, 1928, in Covington, to the late Perry and Lueffia (Mohler) Filbrun. On May 9, 1948, Paul married Mary Ellen (Simmons) Filbrun and they shared the adventure of life together for over 65 years. She preceded him in death in 2013.
Paul attended Covington schools and worked for many years as a meat cutter, most of the time with Kroger. Paul loved the Lord with all his heart and boldly shared God’s Word, affirming that “…he that winneth souls is wise” (Proverbs 11:30). He was a member of Living Word Fellowship in Troy. As a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors for many years, Paul repaired hundreds of antique clocks. He enjoyed motorhome trips, caring for fruit trees and flowers, and fixing about anything. He especially cherished times spent with family and friends.
Paul will be missed and remembered by his two daughters, Linda (Joe) Coulter of New Knoxville and LaDonna (Joe) Wise of Los Angeles, CA; six grandchildren, Paul (April) Coulter, Jennifer (Pat) Nulty, Mary Kay (Scott) Inkrott Hiser, Sean (Tepmora) Wise, Abigail (Michael) LaDolcetta, and Timothy (Nicole) Coulter; eleven great-grandchildren Emma, Essa, Kaila, Charis, Owen, Zeke, Kai, Jake, Tyce, Kara, and Amelia; and many nieces and nephews. Paul was the last of his generation in the Filbrun family, being preceded in death by his brothers—Joe, Carl, David Lee, Perry Mohler and Robert Filbrun—and sisters, Evelyn Flory and Glenna Rapp. Paul was also preceded in death by his dear grandson-in-law, Andy Inkrott, and his special friend in his later years, Kathy Adams.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at Moore Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Covington, with Rev. Joe Coulter officiating. Friends may visit from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 28 at the funeral home. Private graveside services and burial were held in Highland Cemetery, Covington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to “Ohio Living Dorothy Love Employee Christmas Fund”, 3003 Cisco Rd., Sidney, OH 45365.
