Pauline Stump

Pauline Ruth (Martin) Stump “Pedo”, 91, formerly of Covington, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Genesis Troy Care, Homestead Unit.  She was born December 20, 1925, in Covington, the seventh of eight children born to the late Earl and Ruth (Hollopeter) Martin.

She married John A. “Jack” Stump in Colorado on July 6, 1943; he preceded her in death on May 15, 1998.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters Mary Clark and Opal Loughman; and brothers Wesley, Charles, Chalmer, and Joseph “Red” Martin.

Pauline is survived by her twin sister, Geraldine Campbell of Covington; three daughters, Nancy Thornbury, Cindy (Gary) Ryman, and Beverly (Richard) Hines, all of Troy; 10 grandchildren, Ty Pierce, Kevin (Debbie) Pierce, Melissa (Terry) Applegate, Tregory (Carrie) Pierce, John (Carla) Ryman, Mark (Lauren) Ryman, Joseph Ryman, Shannon Hines, April (Lawrence) Schoen, and Michael (Melanie) Hines; 26 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

Pauline was born and raised in Covington and was a 1943 graduate of Covington High School.  She and her late husband owned and operated the Sugar Shak in Covington for 25 years.  Pauline was a master cake decorator.  She loved to paint, play cards, play lots of Bingo, and cook.  She canned fresh food from their large garden, and every Sunday, she cooked large meals attended by 2 to 30 people each week.  Pauline was one of the oldest living members of the A.B. Cole Post #80 American Legion Auxiliary.  She was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, and friend to many.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Moore Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Covington, with Chaplain Mike Herbert officiating.  Burial will follow in Miami Memorial Park.  Friends may call from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Troy Care Center, Homestead Unit, 512 Crescent Dr., Troy, OH 45373.  Online tributes may be left for Pauline’s family at www.moorefh.com.
