Philena Earick

Doris Philena Earick, 93, of Lake Placid, Florida, and formerly of Covington, passed Wednesday, October 13, 2016 at her residence in Lake Placid. She was born July 9, 1923, in Miami County, to the late Orville and Laneta Minnich. Philena married Charles Wayne Earick on July 30, 1941; he preceded her in death on September 12, 1996. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Loretta Rauch; and great-grandaughter, Sarah Jayne Ryan.
Philena will be missed and remembered by her son, Dwaine (Evelyn) Earick of Sidney; grandchildren Anita (Steve) Daniel of Covington, Mary Kay Earick of Sidney, Joseph (Sandy) Earick of Sidney, and Rebecca “Becky” (Matt) Ryan of Houston; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She retired from A.O. Smith and also from Piqua City Schools, where she worked as a cook. Philena worked on the family farm for many years with Wayne, until they retired and sold the farm. She formerly attended the Madison Avenue First Church of God in Piqua, and more recently the Community Church of God in Lake Placid.
Private services for her family are being provided in Florida, and locally through Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, Covington, with private burial in Highland Cemetery, Covington. Online tributes may be left for Philena’s family at jackson-sarver.com.
