Ralph Mutzner

Ralph E. Mutzner, 88, of Piqua, formerly of Covington, passed away Sunday evening, April 27, 2025, at Ohio’s Hospice, Troy. He was born December 20, 1936, in Miami County, to the late Charles D. and Ruth J. (Bodenmiller) Mutzner. He married his wife of 60 years, Suzann (Schilling) Mutzner on August 24, 1958; she preceded him in death on July 29, 2019.

Ralph will be missed and remembered by his children and their spouses, Theodore “Ted” (Susan) Mutzner of Holmen, Wis., Ralph “Fred” (Arlene) Mutzner of Guam and Crystal (Mike) Dahlke of Glencoe, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Tabetha, Christopher, Ryan, Geoff, Zach, Nikki, Joseph Neil and Hollie; and eight great-grandchildren, Seth, Luke, Hudson, Hewitt, Leah, Liza, Clara and Kash. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Louise Mills and Charles Mutzner; a great-grandson, Rylan Mutzner.

Ralph was a 1954 graduate of Covington High School and served two years in the U.S. Army. He worked as a tool and die maker for Hobart Brothers and Hartzell Propeller. While living in Wisconsin, he operated a dairy farm and served as a school board member in Spencer, Wisc. He worked as a truck driver until retirement.

Ralph was a supporter of Future Farmers of America (FFA), and was involved with Stillwater Grange and 4-H. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He was a member of Covington Church of the Brethren and also attended Stillwater Community Church.

A memorial service to honor his life will be held at the Covington Church of the Brethren at a later date. Private burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Covington, where military honors will be conducted by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Memorial contributions may be made to the Covington Church of the Brethren. Arrangements are in care of Moore Funeral Home, Covington.
