April 7, 1949 — March 16, 2016

Richard K. Covault, 66, of Covington, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at the Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.  He was born April 7, 1949 in Troy, to the late Jack A. and Dortha L. (Hilliard) Covault.

Rick will be missed and remembered by his loving wife of 44 years, Gleeanna (Whitacre) Covault of Covington; daughters and sons-in-law Andrea “Annie” & Jeff Jones of Appomattox, Va., and Erica & Greg Newell of Covington; four grandchildren, Emily & Natalie Jones, Alexandrea & Noelle Gast; sister and brother-in-law Carolyn & Wayne Widner of San Pedro, Calif.; nephew Michael Rayburn (Teresa Pence); and niece Joni Rayburn.

Rick was a 1968 graduate of Miami-East High School.  He spent six years in the Navy working as an oceanographic technician stationed at Key West, the Bahamas, and Hawaii, among other places.  Rick continued working in technology upon his return to the Miami Valley and retired from Hartzell Propeller after many years of service.  When not working, Rick engaged in a number of hobbies and had special interest in oceanography, geology, politics, holistic health, reading, and music.  A lover of animals, Rick enjoyed spending time with his pets and helping Glee operate her pet sitting service.  Above all, Rick was a dedicated family man.  His family will always remember and appreciate his dedication, patience, affection, mischievous sense of humor, and readiness with a video camera to capture important family moments.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, March 21, at Jackson-Sarver Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Covington, with Rev. Earl Newell officiating.  Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Private burial will be in Fletcher Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.  Online memories of Rick may be left for his family at jackson-sarver.com.
