Robert Powell

January 1, 1940 — May 23, 2025

Robert C. Powell, 85, of Centerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, surrounded by family who loved him deeply.

Born on January 1, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio. Robert was a proud graduate of Chaminade-Julienne Catholic High School. He began his professional journey at Citizens Federal Savings and Loan, where he worked for 25 years. Starting as a teller, Robert’s dedication, integrity, and leadership led him to become one of the institution’s Vice Presidents. His passion for mentoring others also extended to the classroom, where he was invited to teach banking courses at Sinclair Community College.

Robert’s commitment to his community was admirable. He served as President of the West Carrollton Athletic Boosters, raising funds to support local athletic programs. A lifelong lover of sports, he played baseball and basketball throughout his youth and continued throughout his lifetime. He loved watching college and Pro football.

Robert cherished time spent with his beloved wife and childhood sweetheart, Rita A. Powell. Together, they were proud parents of four children and built a life centered on love, family, and shared adventures. He especially enjoyed their trips to the scenic foothills of California, watching wild horses in Carson City, Nevada, and Lake Tahoe. They loved the golden hills and blue skies of California.

Above all, Robert loved his family. He was a quiet yet strong presence—a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Rita, and their four children: Julia A. Stamper of Centerville, Joanne M. Powell of Waynesville, Jeanette I. Campbell of Waynesville, and R. Michael Powell (Jennifer) of Lewisburg. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Jarrett A. Stamper, Sophia L. Powell, Samuel M. Powell, Robert J. Campbell, Christopher M. Campbell, and Jacob Powell, and six great-grandchildren. Robert is additionally survived by his brother, Roger Powell of California.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Aurelia Powell, and brothers Richard, Rodney, and Rick Powell. He was a cherished brother to his brothers and a loyal friend to many. Robert was a man of quiet strength and unwavering Christian faith. He didn’t preach—he lived his beliefs every day. He often said that children need a firm foundation, and he gave his own a life that reflected just that. His devotion to his wife and children was a living testimony of love, humility, and grace.

Robert was a devoted husband, a wonderful father and grandfather, a loyal brother and friend, and a steady, humble leader whose strength, character, and love will be remembered always.
