Viola Yingst

Viola P. Yingst, 97, of Covington, daughter of Charles and Maude (Pierce) Arnett, was born July 21, 1921, in Pleasant Hill, Ohio.  She went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 19, 2018, at Caldwell House of Troy.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, Edwin L. Yingst, on May 30, 2012.

Viola leaves behind her eight children, Donald Yingst of Dublin, Barbara (Tom) Davis of Wapakoneta, Nancy (Doyle, deceased) Hatfield of Lima, Janet (Donald) Lavy of Pleasant Hill, Paul (Kathryn) Yingst of Lima, David (Leanna) Yingst of Mt. Vernon, Robert Yingst of Troy, and Faith (Edwin) Ablass of Saskatoon, SK, Canada; 25 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Bill) Hare of Mt. Morris, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her siblings Emerson (Eve) Arnett, beloved twin Vesta (Fred) Hill, Bernice (Bob) Jones, and Roscoe (Frances) Arnett.

Mother was a 1939 graduate of Newton High School and enjoyed a close walk with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  She lived a life of sacrifice and service to others, hosting countless family and church dinners.  She not only was an excellent cook, but an accomplished seamstress, and took up painting in her later years, excelling in that as well.  She found much pleasure in sharing her talents with others, with gifts of a painting, a garment, or some baking, and continued this giving well into her 90’s.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 27, at Moore Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Covington, with Pastor Chad Lamb officiating.  Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  If desired, memorial contributions for mission outreach may be made to Believers Christian Fellowship, 1695 Stewart Rd., Lima, OH 45801.  Online condolences may be left for the Yingst family at www.moorefh.com.
