Mark Smith

Mark E. Smith “Smitty”, 78, of Covington, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022 at Ohio’s Hospice of Miami County. He was born July 9, 1943, in Piqua, to the late Lester and Helen (Packer) Smith. He married Judith G. (Cundiff) Smith on August 3, 1963; she survives.

He will also be missed and remembered by three children, Leah Lambert of St. Louis, Mo., Lynn Smith of Covington, and Reggie Smith of Lebanon; siblings Larry (Marilyn) Smith and Carol (Roger) Looker; grandchildren Shaun (Denise) Wyer, Mandy (Brandon) Burke, Marcus Lambert, Molly Lambert, Vincent Martinez, Tanner Smith, Jordan Smith; and six great-grandchildren, Landon, Alexis, Brantley, Keegan, Bennett & Turner. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Wyer; and a sister, Sharon Wells.

Mark attended Covington schools and was inducted into the Covington High School Hall of Fame with the 1960 football team. He was a member of the Covington Church of the Brethren, and loved attending the Covington football games. Smitty had attended nearly every Covington home game from the 1950s to present.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, February 6 at Moore Funeral Home, 10 S. High St., Covington, with Pastor John Shelton officiating. Friends may visit from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Graveside services and burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Miami Memorial Park.
